Check leg fixings weekly
Bolts and leg fixings loosen from repeated lifting and stacking. Left alone, the chair develops play and the load transfers to the welds instead — and cracked welds are much harder to repair.
Running through and tightening fixings once a week takes little time relative to the cost of chairs replaced early. Make it a scheduled task, not something done when someone notices a wobble.
Never stack above the rated height
Over-stacking loads the bottom chair beyond its design limit. Legs splay and backrests deform permanently — not visible immediately, but obvious after several months.
The other risk is that an over-tall stack can topple, which is dangerous for staff and damages many chairs at once. Post the maximum stack count clearly in the store.
Always use trolleys, even for short moves
Carrying two or three chairs across a room seems faster, but it is the main cause of scuffed legs and fabric soiled by being clamped against clothing.
The rule that works is: every move goes on a trolley, with no distance exemption — because an exemption becomes standard practice within weeks.
Clean spills immediately after the event, not the next day
Food and drink left on upholstery overnight penetrates deeper, becoming far harder to remove and sometimes forcing reupholstery of fabric that is otherwise not worn.
Keep a basic cleaning kit near the function rooms so the team can act as they strike the event, rather than walking somewhere else to fetch it — which is exactly why this step gets skipped.
Reupholster instead of replacing when frames are sound
When fabric tires but frames remain strong, reupholstery costs far less than new chairs — and it is an opportunity to change the room palette at the same time.
The right timing is in batches during low season, rotating through in sections so room capacity is unaffected. We provide reupholstery and spare parts.
